Google Adwords is a tried and true advertising medium that both vendors and buyers have come to trust. It is a result oriented advertising tool that vendors prize because it directs targeted traffic to their websites. Whether you use it to sell something, obtain leads, or get people interested in your new offer, Adwords is effective. It enables you to sell any item anywhere on the globe, giving you the ability to pinpoint precise geographical locations by city, state, and country. 1. Targeting Keywords That Are Too Broad

The easiest way I can say this is: Broad keywords will not help you make any money, but instead will keep you from making money and won’t give you the results you want. Targeting broad keywords is a sure way to go broke. For example, let’s look at what happens when you target the word “hospital”. Most of the people who simply search for a word like “hospital” or “medical” are not sure exactly what they are looking for. So if a person searches using words like that, they are just curious about something. If you want results you need to specifically consider your product and derive your keywords from it’s most concise description. Using broad keywords prevents you from knowing if your visitors are interested in your offer or not. However, most times they are not looking to buy anyway. However, if you narrow the keyword a little, like “find a hospital”, your results are only a couple hundred thousand. Narrow search word terms have a specific purpose, and therefore they result in less competition. People using narrow search terms have an agenda in mind and know exactly what they are searching for. Step back from marketing for a minute and try to think like your customers. It won’t be long before you find the right narrow keyword.

2) Aiming To Be The Number One Ad

It seems to make sense, because since you want to be number one in your field, you should have the number one position. However, this is not where you want your ad to be when using Google Adwords. Many people will click on the first ad on the list just as a starter to get information, not because they necessarily are interested in what you have to offer. And since you’re paying for every click, you don’t want to lose money on casual ad clickers. You will actually want to try to get the third or fourth slot in the ad positions, because if a person clicks on your ad, they are more likely to know what they want and be serious about wanting to buy your product or service. 3. Starting Out With A Low Budget
